By far the strangest, most paradoxical effect of Christianity is to render the Christian susceptible to both the desire to live and the desire to die from a single circumstance: for either prospect is sweet. The greatness of life provides the profound understanding of life as a precious, unrepeatable gift while also eliciting the potent peace that comes with knowing that infinitely sweeter treasure lies ahead. No other ideology known to mankind can create these powerful, innate stirrings. But the power of Christ, the Lord, is able.
